A solid piece. It's outrageous that you're not even allowed to check the authenticity of people claiming special status. But not surprising in a culture where most people it's become socially unacceptable to point out egregious abuses for fear of being called a "Karen" or worse.

But times may be changing. Disney's fastest-rising exec is Josh D'Amato, chairman of Disney Experiences. He revolutionized theme park revenue in recent years by selling various categories of fast and frequent access to park visitors. The key was weeding out the many people who were cutting lines for free.

WSJ: "This year, D’Amaro angered some fans by putting new restrictions on a program that allows some visitors with disabilities to skip lines. Before, guests with a wider range of issues could qualify, but the system was widely abused. Now, the service is limited mainly to visitors with serious developmental disabilities like autism."

Southwest Airlines in recent years has also suffered an epidemic of able-bodied people claiming they need to board the plane (for free) ahead of everyone else. I know someone who confided she does this routinely. Now SWA is ending its festival seating...to close THAT loophole.

Here's hoping someone will find an equally clever way to end abuse of handicapped parking spots and fake therapy animals so we can make way for those who really are in need!
