What a lovely tribute. It is true that "at this time of our lives," we are losing people - some due to nothing more than age, others to tragic circumstances. Today is the one-year Yahrzeit for my 78-year old brother...being somewhat "old" but definitely an unexpected loss. You experienced that way too soon, and with Erica being too damn young. I remember her fondly. My mother lived till '94; we were so fortunate to have her that long, although she hated losing so many friends and family before her. Thinking of you!
Being 70 isn’t as bad as I thought it would be when I was 40 and younger. The wisdom, such as it is, and the true ability to not give a crap is remarkable. You’ll enjoy it!
