Thank you Barry. From a retired educator who thought it was getting unreal 10 years ago. I feel for them all. The politics in education is out of control. I admire and pray our teachers have the strength to do what's right for our future, the children. I will vote to support them.

I respect teachers BUT, illiteracy in America: 54?% of adults 16-74 are illiterate below a 6th grade level. 46% are illiterate below a 3rd grade levek. 21% can't read. 51% of our children cannot pass literacy tests.

CRT is based on Marxist theories and thoughts. Marx is the guy who believes history and individual acheivement are evil.

Passing reparation laws does teach a white child they are responsible. And perversion is taught in grade schools, except maybe Florida.

It eems to me we still need the 3 Rs. Some science and geography could go a long way as well. And now we have 6 million new Americans who, according to Democrats, we need for picking vegetables and construction. Yippee

Barry - You disappoint me!!! You had to know that the original post was going to produce controversial responses. That is why I did not respond. And yet, unlike conversations I have had with you where we know we have different views, you responded angrily and with condemnation. Neither you or I or whoever is reading your writing understand the whole picture. You can quote the writings of this site or that clip, but it is no more accurate (or less for that matter) of what the full picture looks like than things I can find and quote you that I find appalling. The fact is, despite all our wealth in America, our children don't make the grade academically. That puts them at a disadvantage. For all the great teachers out there like you describe, there are just as many who take a paycheck and don't really give a damn. As a parent of a disabled child, and one who is gifted but will give anyone a run for their money, I can attest to that. The fact that you come from a family of teachers and have friends who are teachers does not make you an expert on the subject. What we both know is but a drop in the bucket. Schools are, first and foremost, supposed to educate our children in not only the 3 R's, but also science, technology , and history. They are a place to learn social skills and be guided to be kind individuals, despite whether or not they agree with another person. School psychologists were supposed to be there to identify and REFER children with academic and other psychological issues. Whether the history books accurately reflect "our history" I won't debate with you as I haven't read one in way too many years. What I do believe is that everyone, everyone is entitled to their own belief system, but they may not act in a discriminatory way towards another who believes different. I may not believe in gay marriage for example. That does not make me homophobic. If that is my belief, I am entitled to it and that does not make me a bad person unless I am being discriminatory about my belief. PARENTS, NOT SCHOOLS, are responsible for the moral values taught. Schools are responsible for identifying children acting in a hateful or discriminatory manner as a result of those beliefs. For every example you give on one side of the equation, someone else can give a competing example. It is not helpful to the cause. Your original post opened up a whole can of worms you should have been prepared for. Your response disappointed me. However, I still love you!!!!

Amen!!! You called it perfectly! Teachers are forced to teach a very strict curriculum in many places today. That doesn't necessarily educate and teach thinking. It also doesn't necessarily meet the needs of their students. This situation is very sad.

Etc, etc, etc!! But you are getting there!! I disagree with your warning that what follows are liberal views. I think they are the views of the Silent Majority!! We are just not silent anymore and if you used to like "Bud Lite" you are now the majority. Well done and I still think the public schools should teach Latin! and let the parents smoke cigars!!
